Individual medley

Classcope explanation

Individual medley class calculated from the swimmer's S and SB classes. The August 2022 rulebook specifies two formulas depending on the S class and rounds the result to a whole Sport Class.

Classcope explanation — navigation support only. The official Sport Class rule is shown separately below.

Official Sport Class rule

Individual medley Sport Class allocation will be calculated based on the Athlete's Sport Class for the S-stroke and the SB-stroke. The calculation is rounded to a whole number. For example, a calculation resulting in 6.5 will be rounded up to Sport Class SM7.

If the Athlete is allocated a S5 Sport Class or higher (i.e S6), the allocation of the individual medley Sport Class (SM) will be calculated as follows;

3 x S class + 1 x SB class = SM Sport Class 4

If the Athlete is allocated a S4 Sport Class or lower, the allocation of the individual medley Sport Class (SM) will be calculated as follows;

2 x S class + 1 x SB class = SM Sport Class 3
